  • Not a hot spring: Milan has no thermal source, and QC calls this a wellness circuit rather than a thermal one.
  • One sauna is built inside an old Milan tram carriage, parked in the garden.
  • An outdoor glass-sided whirlpool looks out on the 16th-century Spanish walls.
  • Open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, a short walk from the Porta Romana metro stop.

Spa, not a hot spring

QC Spa Milano, long known as QC Termemilano, is a day spa in the middle of a big city. There is no hot spring under it. QC calls the Milan circuit a “percorso benessere”, a wellness circuit, and names no spring or thermal source for it, while it does name the springs at its mountain sites. The word “terme” in the old name is the brand, not a description of the water. Travel sites sometimes call it thermal baths; we found nothing to support that.

If you want the real thing, QC’s Bagni Nuovi spa at Bormio runs on natural hot springs, about three hours from Milan by car. Closer to the city, QC also runs a spa at San Pellegrino Terme in the Brembana valley north of Bergamo.

As a city spa, though, it is popular for good reasons: long opening hours, a central location and a garden that most Milanese hotels cannot match.

What to expect

The spa sits at Piazzale Medaglie d’Oro on the edge of the Porta Romana district, just inside the ring of boulevards that follows the old city walls. The building is a Liberty-style (Italian Art Nouveau) complex that once belonged to Milan’s tram company, and Time Out describes it as a former tram depot. The garden runs up against the 16th-century Spanish walls of Porta Romana, a surprising bit of quiet next to one of the city’s busiest junctions.

QC counts 30 “wellness practices” in the circuit. The main features it lists:

  • Le Mille Bolle Blu: the historic outdoor whirlpool, with glass walls that look out on the Spanish walls.
  • Vasca Cinema: an indoor pool where you lie back and watch projections across the ceiling.
  • Il Tram di Porta Romana: a biosauna inside a historic tram carriage of the “Ventotto” type, the tram model Milan has run since the 1920s.
  • Le Stube: a sauna styled on the wooden houses of the Valtellina, with a pine scent.
  • La Contrada del Fieno: a hay-scented biosauna.
  • A spasso per la città: an outdoor barefoot path over different surfaces.
  • Bosco delle Meraviglie: a relaxation room with scents and soft light.

Expect a social, busy place, especially in the evenings and at weekends, rather than a silent retreat. QC has also added a beauty bar.

Getting there

The address is Piazzale Medaglie d’Oro 2, at the corner of Viale Filippetti, 20135 Milan.

  • Metro: line M3 (yellow) to Porta Romana, which surfaces on the same square. From the Duomo it is a few stops south-east.
  • Tram and bus: several lines run along the ring road (the Viali) past Porta Romana.
  • By car: QC recommends two paid car parks: Autosilo Medaglie d’Oro at Viale Sabotino 25, about 4 minutes’ walk, and Viale Montenero 16/A, about 6 minutes. Central Milan has the Area C congestion charge zone and the Area B low-emission zone, so check whether your car and route are affected.
  • From the airports: Linate is the closest, about 6 km (4 miles) east in a straight line. From Malpensa, take the train into the city and change to the metro.

When to go

The spa is open every day of the year. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to midnight on Friday, 8 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Evenings and weekends are the busiest, as people come straight from work. Weekday mornings are the calmest. The weekday lunch-break slot, from 12:30 to 3 p.m., is aimed at people who work nearby and is one of the cheaper tickets.

Book early for QC’s listed holiday periods: October 31 to November 1, December 5 to 8, December 24 to January 6, February 13-14 and March 26-29. Milan’s big trade fairs, such as Design Week in April and the fashion weeks, also fill the city.

Prices and booking

QC publishes “from” prices that change with the date and demand. The 2026 list:

  • 5-hour entry: from €60
  • Unlimited day entry: from €68
  • Evening entry, from 6 p.m.: from €58
  • Late entry, from 8:30 p.m.: from €48
  • Lunch-break entry, Monday to Friday, 12:30 to 3 p.m.: from €48
  • Entry with a 25, 50 or 75-minute massage: from €122, €166 and €216
  • Couples’ entry with a couples’ massage: from €244 for two

Every ticket includes the robe, towel, slippers and the “Aperiterme” evening aperitif. Bring your own swimsuit. Outside food is not allowed; a buffet lunch (€29 or €34) can be added at booking. QC runs a separate student promotion at this site.

Rules shared across QC:

  • Booking is compulsory. No walk-ins. Arrive within 30 minutes of your slot.
  • One entry. You cannot leave and come back on the same ticket.
  • Age 14 and up.
  • No entry during pregnancy.

Where to stay nearby

QC’s own QC Room Milano Porta Romana is a smart hotel at Viale Bligny 23, a short walk west along the ring road. It is a separate building, not connected to the spa, and QC sells room and spa packages. The Porta Romana and Navigli districts around it have plenty of other hotels, and the metro puts the Duomo and Milano Centrale within easy reach.

Safety notes

  • Saunas and hot tubs. Drink water between sessions and do not stay in long after a meal or alcohol; the evening aperitif is wine.
  • Wet surfaces on the outdoor path and around the pools, especially on cold winter evenings.
  • Health. QC bars pregnant women. Anyone with heart or blood pressure problems should check with a doctor before using saunas.
