What to expect

Hot Springs Glamp Camp is a small campground on South Foch Street in the Truth or Consequences hot springs district. Andrea and Robert Ahava bought an old motor court in town after a visit in early 2021 and turned it into what New Mexico Magazine called the first upscale campground of its kind in the area. It is compact, about half an acre, enclosed by a privacy wall and an automatic gate.

The soaking setup is simple. Hot mineral water from under the town fills tin “cowboy tubs” made from repurposed stock troughs. The tourism listing counts three outdoor multi-person tubs and one indoor single-person tub; a 2025 sale listing for the property describes four outdoor tubs plus an indoor tub in the office building’s guest bathrooms. Either way, there are only a few, and they are shared among guests on a take-turns basis. Reviewers say the tubs are refilled with fresh water for each use and can be used privately.

The water is hot. The county tourism page gives 107 to 109°F42 to 43°C, and New Mexico Magazine says 107 to 111°F42 to 44°C. The camp’s site describes the water as continuously flowing with trace amounts of 38 minerals.

Where you sleep is the other half of the appeal:

  • Vintage trailers, remodeled for overnight stays. The best known is Ava the Avion, with a living area, kitchenette, private full bathroom and a queen bed. Guests also mention Silvia the Spartan.
  • The bohemian yurt, with a glass dome in the roof for looking at the stars.
  • The dome, the newest unit, with a king bed and a patio.
  • Seven RV and camping sites with full hookups, each with its own patio and privacy wall.

Shared facilities include two bathrooms, Wi-Fi across the compound, an outdoor lounge, a fire pit and a barbecue.

Getting there

The camp is at 675 S. Foch Street in Truth or Consequences, two blocks or so from Main Street and the Rio Grande.

From Interstate 25, take exit 75 (Williamsburg) and follow Broadway into town. Turn right on Van Patten, then left on Foch. The camp is on the left. Coming from Albuquerque in the north, you can also use the northern T or C exit and follow the business loop south into downtown, then cut across to Foch.

Once you are inside the gate, everything is a few steps apart. Parking is beside your site or unit.

When to go

October through April suits a 108°F42°C tub best. Days are usually mild and nights are cold, which is when an outdoor soak under a desert sky is at its best.

Summer afternoons in T or C are hot. Because the tubs are open around the clock, the trick in summer is to soak late at night or at first light.

Weekends in spring and fall are the busiest time for T or C lodgings, and with only a handful of units here, book early for those dates.

Prices and booking

The camp does not post rates on its main pages. Both the tourism listing and the camp say to check availability and book online, or call 575-740-6775.

For a rough idea, The Dyrt lists sites from about $50 to $75 a night, and one camper reported paying $106 a night for a vintage trailer in March 2025. Treat those as dated third-party figures, not quotes.

What the stay includes:

  • Unlimited tub access, 24 hours a day, for as long as you are booked, plus use of the patio lounge.
  • Full hookups (20, 30 and 50 amp electric, water and sewer) at RV sites.
  • Two-night minimum for the glamping units, according to the county tourism office.

Rules and practical notes:

  • RV length: the camp’s own amenities list says up to 30 feet. The tourism page says 35 feet. Ask before you arrive with anything long.
  • Pets: well-behaved, friendly pets are welcome.
  • Families: the tourism office calls the camp family-friendly. There is no published age limit for the tubs, but the water is very hot for small children.
  • Swimsuits: no rule is published. The tubs are in a shared courtyard, so a suit is the safe default.
  • Ownership: the property was listed for sale in February 2025; that listing has since expired. The camp’s website is still taking bookings.

Where to stay nearby

If the camp is full, downtown T or C has a cluster of small hot springs lodgings within a few blocks. Hoosier Hot Springs & Inn on Austin Street is an adults-only inn with private hourly pools from 1937. Riverbend Hot Springs sits on the Rio Grande nearby, and Blackstone Hot Springs is in the same district.

For more space or a bigger rig, Elephant Butte Lake State Park, a few miles north, has large campgrounds with hookups, and there are commercial RV parks around Elephant Butte and along the I-25 business loop.

Safety notes

  • Very hot water: 107 to 111°F42 to 44°C is hotter than most commercial spas. Test it first, keep early soaks to 10 or 15 minutes, drink water, and get out if you feel dizzy. Do not soak alone after drinking.
  • Kids: small children overheat quickly in water this hot. Keep their soaks short and supervised.
  • Night safety: the compound is gated. One reviewer said they would not walk the surrounding streets alone after dark; use normal town sense.
  • Summer heat: shade and water matter. Avoid midday soaks from June to September.
  • Footing: stock-tank rims and wet patios are slippery. Step in carefully.

Nearby stops worth adding

Walk to downtown for coffee, the Geronimo Springs Museum and the T or C Brewery, which the camp mentions as one of its neighbors. Many of the older bathhouses in the district sell walk-in soaks if you want to compare waters. Elephant Butte Lake is a short drive north for swimming and paddling in the warm months.
