Which “The Springs” this is
“The Springs” is a common name, so a word on identification. This page covers The Springs at 200 Zelt Strasse in Leavenworth, the only business we found trading under exactly that name in Washington. It opened in early 2025. We looked for a spa called The Springs in Ashford, near Mount Rainier, and found none. If you were looking for a geothermal spring, this is not one: The Springs heats its own pools.
What to expect
The Springs is an outdoor hydrotherapy spa in the Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth, on a landscaped lot between the Leavenworth KOA and a newer climbing gym, with views of the Cascades. Founders Marco Scheuer and Vincent LaBelle built it around the hot-cold routine common in Nordic spas: soak, sweat, plunge, rest, repeat.
The facilities:
- Soaking pools: a hot pool and a warm pool at about body temperature. The operator does not publish exact temperatures.
- Cold plunge: a cold pool with an overhead bucket of ice water on a chain, for anyone who wants the full shock.
- Cedar sauna: a dry sauna that seats 15, with a mountain view.
- Darla: a retro wood-fired sauna trailer with its own deck. You ladle water onto the stones yourself.
- Lounging: fire pits, a patio lounge, chaises, hammocks and grass areas.
The pools are heated and maintained at set temperatures all year, and the water is chlorinated, as local news photos of the opening showed. Seattle Met reported in late 2025 that a second phase with another sauna and more pools was planned, and the company lists a second location in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood.
How a visit works
You book a time slot online, check in at the gate, and get a robe and towel. Change into your swimsuit and rinse off in the heated showers. From there the order is up to you. A common pattern is 10 to 15 minutes in the cedar sauna or Darla, a short dip in the cold plunge, a rest by the fire or in a hammock, then a longer soak in the hot or warm pool. Most people manage two or three rounds in a session. Tea is set out for guests, so build in time to sit, cool down and drink something between rounds. Shower again on the way out.
The feel is social rather than silent. People talk around the fire pits, and the patio serves as a hangout between rounds.
Getting there
The Springs is at 200 Zelt Strasse, Leavenworth, WA 98826, near the Willkommen park and ride and next to the Leavenworth KOA on the east side of town.
- From Seattle: Take US-2 east over Stevens Pass to Leavenworth, about 2.5 hours in good conditions. In winter, check pass conditions with WSDOT and carry chains when required.
- From Wenatchee: Drive west on US-2, about half an hour.
The town center is a short drive away. Ask about parking when you book on busy festival weekends.
When to go
The Springs is open year-round, seven days a week. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday through Sunday. On Thursdays it closes early, at 8:30 p.m., for cleaning.
Winter is the obvious season. Leavenworth gets real snow, and a hot pool after a day at Stevens Pass or on the cross-country trails around town makes sense. The December lighting festival weekends are the busiest time in town, so book early.
Weekday mornings are the quietest. Evenings and weekends fill up, especially in summer and during Oktoberfest.
On the first Tuesday of each month, the spa runs a free Coffee and Cold Plunge morning from 7 to 8 a.m., with coffee from Gaucho Coffee Co.

Where to stay nearby
The Springs has no lodging of its own.

- Downtown Leavenworth has hotels, inns and vacation rentals within a few minutes’ drive.
- Wenatchee, about half an hour east, has more chain hotels and is often cheaper on festival weekends.
Safety notes
- Hot-cold cycling: Moving between sauna, hot pool and ice water puts a load on your heart. If you have heart or blood pressure problems, or are pregnant, ask your doctor first and skip the bucket.
- Hydration: Bring the water bottle the operator suggests and drink between rounds. Alcohol and saunas do not mix.
- Wood-fired sauna: The stove in Darla is hot to the touch. Keep a little distance and pour water slowly.
- Winter driving: Stevens Pass can close or require chains at short notice. Leave extra time on the drive home.
