What to expect

Glamis North Hot Springs is a big, busy winter RV park in the low desert east of the Salton Sea. The soaking is the draw, but the crowd is a mix: snowbirds staying for weeks, families in cabins, and off-road riders using the park as a base for desert trails. The operator now markets the property as Palm Springs RV Park, home of Glamis North Hot Springs, so you will see both names. The address, phone number and pools are the same.

The park sits below sea level (Campendium lists it at about 65 feet below), with the Chocolate Mountains to the east. The operator lists 235 sites on more than 80 acres. Expect gravel, wide-open sky and a lot of RVs. It is not a quiet spa retreat. On winter weekends, side-by-sides and ATVs come and go, and the operator runs events through the season.

The pools

A geothermal well supplies water at about 160°F71°C. It is cooled before it is piped into the soaking areas. The operator counts 18 places to soak:

  • Two mineral soaking pools run on a flow-through system. Recent reviewers describe one as hot and one as warm. The operator says no chlorine is used in these, and that the water has very little of the sulphur smell common at desert springs.
  • 14 hot tubs fed by the same water.
  • Two larger swimming pools, which are chemically balanced and used more for swimming and families.
  • Saunas heated by the hot spring water. Campendium lists two.

The operator does not publish exact temperatures for each pool. Reviewers on Campendium describe a mix of hot and cooler pools, and one noted the spring area closing at 10 pm. Check the posted pool hours when you arrive.

Getting there

The resort is at 10595 Hot Mineral Spa Road, on the east side of the Salton Sea. The operator puts it about an hour southeast of the Palm Springs area, about 2.5 hours from Los Angeles or San Diego, and about 4 hours from Phoenix.

  • From Indio or Coachella: Take Highway 111 southeast past Mecca and North Shore, along the northeast side of the Salton Sea. Near Bombay Beach, turn east onto Hot Mineral Spa Road. The resorts on this road sit roughly 3.5 miles in from the highway.
  • From the south (Brawley or El Centro): Take Highway 111 north through Calipatria and Niland toward Bombay Beach, then turn east onto Hot Mineral Spa Road.

The operator caters to rigs up to 45 feet, and big RVs come in all season. Use the street address in your GPS, since several mineral-water RV parks share this road. Fuel up in Indio, Mecca, Brawley or Niland, as services are thin along this stretch of shore.

When to go

The resort only opens in the cooler months. For 2026-2027 the season runs October 23, 2026 to April 11, 2027. Summer temperatures here are severe, which is why the park closes.

  • November to March brings mild, sunny days and cold desert nights, which is when a hot soak feels best.
  • Weekdays are calmer. Weekends and holidays fill with off-road groups and families.
  • Late October and early April can still be hot in the afternoon. Soak in the morning or after dark.

Prices and booking

Prices are from the operator’s site, checked October 2026:

  • Day pass: $30 per person, all day.
  • Overnight guests: Hot springs, pools and saunas are included with any RV site, tent site or cabin rental.
  • Discounts: 50% off a Sunday night when you extend a weekend stay, and 25% off any Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night, excluding holidays. Discounts apply automatically when booking online.
  • Cancellations: A $30 fee applies to every cancellation. With 14 or more days’ notice (by 2 pm), the rest is refunded. With 3 to 14 days’ notice you lose one night plus the fee. Under 3 days, there is no refund. Moving to a future date avoids the fees.
  • Check-in and check-out: Check-in from 2 pm. Check-out at 11 am.
  • Quiet hours: 10:30 pm to 7:30 am Sunday to Thursday, and 11:45 pm to 7:30 am on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays.

RV, tent and cabin rates vary by date, and the operator shows them in its CampLife booking system rather than on the site. Call 760-354-1010 if you want to confirm day-pass availability before driving out. The operator does not publish age limits or a dress code for the pools. Plan on swimsuits, since this is a family campground.

Where to stay nearby

  • On site: Pull-through and back-in RV sites with 50-amp full hookups (the operator says big-rig sites are over 100 feet long), cottages, family cabins, covered wagons, and two tent sites near the pool complex with their own bathroom and electricity.
  • Other spring-fed RV parks: Hot Mineral Spa Road has a small cluster of mineral-water RV resorts, so you have options if this one is full.
  • Indio and the Coachella Valley: The nearest large choice of hotels, roughly an hour northwest.
  • Brawley and El Centro: Hotels and full services to the south.

Safety notes

  • Hot water. Start in a cooler pool and test before you sink into the hottest tubs. Keep soaks short and drink plenty of water, especially after riding in dry desert air.
  • Desert heat. Even inside the season, early fall and spring afternoons can get hot. Shade, water and a hat matter.
  • Off-road traffic. ATVs and side-by-sides move through the park and nearby trails. Watch children around roads and staging areas.
  • Insects. One reviewer mentioned water bugs around the pools. Look before you step in at night.
  • Remoteness. This side of the Salton Sea has limited services. Arrive with fuel, food and any medication you need.

Nearby stops worth adding

Salvation Mountain, a hillside painted with Bible verses and bright colors, and the off-grid community of Slab City are both just east of Niland, south of the resort on Highway 111. Bombay Beach, a few miles south, has become known for art installations on its shoreline. Off-road riders head for the open desert and, further southeast, the Imperial Sand Dunes at Glamis, which gives the resort its name.
